Creative Connections Arts Academy Charter was up for renewal this school year.  At the May 3, 2016 Twin Rivers Unified School District Board Meeting, Trustees voted and approved CCAA’s Charter Renewal Petition.  This renewal is for a five (5) year term from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2021. 

 

A special thanks to the following individuals who worked diligently in successfully securing a five-year term for CCAA’s Charter renewal:  Dr. Sara Noguchi, TRUSD Associate Superintendent, Innovations, Research and Design;  Brian Emerson, CCAA Vice-Principal; Tina Hughes-Corben, CCAA teacher; DeAnna Myers, CCAA teacher; Gary Brooks, CCAA teacher; Kris Ward, CCAA parent; Mira Macias, CCAA parent; and Geoff Neill, CCAA parent.

7th grade Orientation will be held on May 23, 2016 at the Walerga campus in the library from 3:30-4:00. Parents and future 7th grade students can get information about CCAA's program and students will pick their elective classes for next year. We look forward to meeting you!

We always need parents to volunteer to drive for field trips and other school events!

 

The process can take up to 8 weeks, and must be be completed annually.  Please do this process early in the school year. We have had some drivers not getting qualified in time and not able to drive for their event.

 

To ease the time, energy and small fee you will earn 15 parent involvement hours (if you qualify)--that's half your hours for the year just for signing up!  You can then earn additional hours for time spent driving and at events.

 

According to the Transportations policy, this process is required each year.

  1. If you do not already have a staff or volunteer badge a volunteer form must be filled out and signed by the principal. Call the district 916 566-1600 and they can guide you through the time, and requirements of getting your badge.
  2. Proof of liability insurance with coverage of at least $100,000 per person and $300,000 per incident.
  3. Proof of a valid California Driver’s License.
  4. Proof of current automobile registration
  5. Signed Vehicle Safety and Transportation Procedures and Requirements Form included in this packet.
  6. Signed DMV Pull Notice included in this packet.
  7. H6 report from DMV, (cannot get online), DMV fee $5.00. (example included, please take sample to DMV)

Please bring your badge, proof of insurance coverage including expiration date, current driver’s license, current  car registration, signed Safety form (included in packet), signed DMV Pull Notice (included in packet), and original H6 from DMV, to the school office.

Not sure what your family's summer holds?  See attached fliers to learn more about summer library hours, math camp for current 6th-8th graders, middle school summer programs, and free summer meals.

High school summer school classes are for credit recovery only and our counselor will pass out the forms to students who are eligible.

Are you ready Dragons?  Walerga's annual Battle of the Dragons will take place May 27th all day.  Sixth grade will also be coming to join the fierce inter-class fray.

Please note that to participate in the Battle of the Dragons, 7th-12th grade students must have in all their field study day reports, and have completed and logged their 15 Community Service Hours (7th & 8th turn this in to homeroom teachers, 9th-12th enter online).  Students who have not yet met these requirements will be working on completing them during the school day on May 27th.

We are pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees has approved Mr. Ed Delgado to serve as the new principal of CCAA, effective July 1, 2016.

 

Mr. Delgado is a proven leader and highly successful educator who has a deep-seated belief that music, art and creative expression are critical to a well-rounded education. During his 20 years of service with the district, Mr. Delgado served as principal at Orchard Elementary and vice principal the former Aero Haven Elementary School. For the past six years Mr. Delgado has served as principal at Rio Linda High School, where the visual and performing arts are a critical part of the curriculum and school culture.

 

Thank you for your continued support as we make this transition. Mr. Larry Tosta will continue to serve as interim principal for the 2015-16 school year.

Junior High and High School families recently received a letter from the district explaining that we must offer Sex Health Education / HIV Prevention curriculum. This content will be taught in 7th grade for junior highers, and in Health Class at the high school level.  Please see attached letter for more information and your options as a parent.

We ended up with extras!  There are 10 more High School ($60) and 10 more Junior High yearbooks ($25) for sale first come first serve... this is your only chance to purchase one if you didn't preorder, so bring your money to the Walerga office ASAP.

Donations are needed for the Junior High dance, scheduled for May 13th.  Donations can be brought to the Walerga campus office or to Mrs. Rowden

Food (Must be Pre-packaged)-

  • 1 veggie tray

  • 2 fruit trays

  • 2 bags of assorted chocolates

  • 1 medium box of Rice Krispie treats

  • 60 fruit snack packages

  • 40+ small individual packages of assorted chips

  • 3 big bags of ice THE DAY OF!!

Decoration Supplies-

  • 7 toddler size basic pool tubes

  • 2 average size basic pool tubes

  • A lot of yellow, pink, green and orange tissue paper

  • 1 bag of balloons in each of the following colors- yellow, pink, green, and orange

  • 1 package of medium size glue gun sticks

A majority of the decoration supplies can be found at Dollar Tree

* ALL OF THE DECORATION SUPPLIES LISTED ABOVE IS NEEDED ASAP SO WE CAN MAKE THE DECORATIONS!*
