Message from the Principal

It is hard to believe that the end of the school year has arrived!


The year’s end always brings with it a strong sense of accomplishment-so many things have happened this year! From our Charter being renewed to our field trips and, of course, upcoming graduation – our staff, students, and parents have been involved in an extraordinary number of activities. Of course, we should not forget the tremendous amount of learning which has taken place during the year. Throughout all of these activities our students have demonstrated great character and integrity which is a reflection of the expectations of the CCAA community of teachers, staff, and parents.


To the community at large - I would like to honor the Creative Connections Arts Academy community for everything it does to support our students. No one person makes CCAA a special place for teaching and learning-It takes the collaborative efforts of teachers, paraprofessionals, office staff, custodians, school nurse, cafeteria workers, and parents to build a school community that is devoted to doing what is right for kids.


To our graduates – congratulations on your achievement. The CCAA staff wish you all the best as you move forward and remember that we will always support you. We look forward to hearing from the graduates in the future and we hope that each of them will have gained a firm foundation for their education while at CCAA. We know that many of you will visit staff members at the school in the next few years.


For those families who will be returning in September, school will begin on Tuesday, August 9th. As a reminder, class lists will be revised up until the beginning of school. This will be how your children find out who their teacher will be. For this reason, class lists will be posted on Friday, August 6th.   


On behalf of the staff, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and happy summer.


Welcoming Mr. Ed Delgado

The TRUSD community is pleased to announce that Edward Delgado will become Principal for Creative Connections. Mr. Delgado has worked in the TRUSD since unification. Prior to unification, Mr. Delgado worked in Rio Linda District. He has been a fixture in this community for over 25 years. Mr. Delgado is a strong leader who has enormous energy and shares our vision to support outstanding teaching and learning opportunities with our students. CCAA staff and students would like to extend a warm welcome to Mr. Ed Delgado and we feel excited and blessed to have such an accomplished Administrator coming to work with our unique community.

As we close one year and take a well-deserved summer break, it is important to remember to check the school website and Facebook pages for any updates. Any policy changes, opportunities for Parent Involvement hours, community service and calendar changes will be noted here. I encourage everyone to enjoy their break and relax before August 9th when we return.


Office Information

The Arutas office is will close on June 16th and re-open beginning July 26th. Hours will be from 8-3 p.m. The Walerga office will close on June 24th will re-open July 19th.



If your student has any uncleared absences within the past 2 weeks, please take a moment to call the office at either site to get them cleared.


Junior/High school Orientation

Orientation for 7-12 will be on August 2nd. Look for a letter with details in the end of July.


Starting today, you can sign up to work Levi Stadium Concessions at various events to FUNDRAISE FOR CCAA = YOU DECIDE WHERE THE MONEY GOES WITHIN OUR PTO ACCOUNTS.


All workers must have food handler cards (free) and CA Alcohol Server Certification ($15 per adult) in order to volunteer for this event. An email will be sent to you on how to do this online once you sign up. All workers must also provide uniform and comply with all Levi Stadium guidelines.


Signups are due by apx. 3 weeks before each event:

Creative Connections Arts Academy Charter was up for renewal this school year.  At the May 3, 2016 Twin Rivers Unified School District Board Meeting, Trustees voted and approved CCAA’s Charter Renewal Petition.  This renewal is for a five (5) year term from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2021. 


A special thanks to the following individuals who worked diligently in successfully securing a five-year term for CCAA’s Charter renewal:  Dr. Sara Noguchi, TRUSD Associate Superintendent, Innovations, Research and Design;  Brian Emerson, CCAA Vice-Principal; Tina Hughes-Corben, CCAA teacher; DeAnna Myers, CCAA teacher; Gary Brooks, CCAA teacher; Kris Ward, CCAA parent; Mira Macias, CCAA parent; and Geoff Neill, CCAA parent.
